I want to give a shout out to all the mom slayers who are doing their thing working at home! I know COVID-19 has definitely changed our lives and for so many that means transitioning from work at the office to working from home. Being able to simulate many roles into one cohesive work day can be challenging, crazy, and rewarding all at the same time. Here are some tips that I find helpful throughout my work from home days

  • Schedule short 10 minute motor break activities with child/children to incorporate them into your day. This will allow you a stretching/movement break while including play time with your child/children.
  • Make lunch dates with your children. This will allow for social interaction and bonding moments.
  • Enlist the help of the troops- Ask family members to help pitch in
  • Put together several 45minute-1 hour marathons of television shows your children like to watch and rotate them throughout the week.
  • Coordinate professional virtual behavior health therapy with a practitioner to manage emotional stress. Making the session virtual will allow for flexibility and minimize health risks related to COVID-19
  • Set boundaries with your work schedule. The end of the work day, should be the end of the work day….
  • Incorporate exercise before your child wakes up in the morning and work begins. This allows for healthy maintenance of the body physically and mentally.
  • Make little diet changes. Explore healthy options and soon you could notice increased energy and stamina that will last throughout most the day.
  • If your child is very young, place their enclosed portable play area/crib near your work station for easy accessibility.
  • Get dressed at least every other day. Professional attire helps attitude and self confidence.
  • And if all else fails….,press mute on your work head phones and make sure the work computer’s camera is off 😉
